Inkfolk pops its head up once again to celebrate our 1st birthday and what a great 4 days we have install for you with ace music, art, drinking and dancing in our little basement space in Hebden Bridge.

We have a fully licensed bar, serving local craft beers and wines, offer good teas, coffees, non-alcoholic drinks and food in a relaxed atmosphere with great music. Outside there is a lovely canal-side garden terrace which, combined with the exhibition space, makes Inkfolk a perfect place to soak up the community vibe, relax and enjoy good sounds.

Exhibition opening

This exhibition will bring together the work of Photographers, Bev Manders, Miles Halpin and Steven Grogan. The three cover very different styles and subjects, from portraiture and landscapes to surface and texture, meaning that there will be something of interest for everyone.

Friday 17/05/2013. 5pm - Late

Exhibition/Ink-friends DJ Ric Platt/Magpie Pop up cinema.

Our ‘Ink-friends’ evenings are a good chance to invite our friends to play records for us, so basically anything goes! For this one we welcome Ric Platt (from boogie-juice) to play throughout the evening, before and after the cinema.

In between the music we have the wonderful Magpie pop up Cinema from 8pm who will be showing another ace independent film. Expect the usual drinking beer, eating popcorn and general chatting in the not so usual film environment.

Saturday 18/05/2013 1pm - Late

Exhibition/Magpie children’s matinee/Inkfolk presents a bbq with the The Idiots are winning, with Chris Duckenfield, Louis Finch, Jake Manders, CP et Causa.

Saturday daytime Magpie cinema are staying popped-up from the night before but this time they will be screening a family matinee from 2pm, where the kids can hang out, eat cake, check out films on the big screen, cause mayhem and fall over stuff. Yay!

Then from 5pm it’s the adults turn for mayhem, as it’s our 1st birthday bbq/party outside on the terrace with The Idiots Are Winning. TIAW is an infrequent basement party with the odd red light or two at the Dance Tunnel in some place called London. They have hosted some great parties with guest DJs such as Chez Damier, I-Cube, Crazy P, and The Unabombers, plus they have hosted one of the famous boat parties out at sea for the Electric Elephant festival in Croatia.
Originally, Louis and Jake lived in Hebden Bridge, throwing infamous parties under the guises of Boogie-juice and Divided by Dirt, they ran nights with good music policies and picked DJs from all over the world to come and party at the Trades Club. The pair, now a little older from those great days, are still djing and holding quality parties, but have teamed up with another DJ who has also had quite a few years experience on the party circuit, none other than Chris Duckenfield and thus The Idiots Are Winning was formed.
Chris is basically regarded as one of the finest djs out there, he has been a DJ for over 20 years, and has made a career out of playing other peoples music, not only that but has also made and has been involved with some of the best house music to come out of this country as SWAG and The popular peoples front. He has done countless remixes for the likes of Blaze, Jimi Tenor, Bjork, Ian Pooley, Metro Area and Jesse Rose and now runs All Ears music distribution. This, along with playing at pretty much every esteemed party from here to Sydney, is why he is one of the best DJs around for a quality, no nonsense heads down party music.
So all being well, the sun will be shining, we’ll have music outside, food, dancing and of course great people to make this a top day/night affair, plus ater on take the party indoors. Tickets are £5 (including a lovely BBQ supplied by Scott Patient) and are on sale soon via http://www.wegottickets.com/ or Inkfolk and from Dynamite, 35 Market Street. HB. Doors close at 10pm with or without a ticket!!!

Sunday 19/05/2013 1pm – 11pm
Exhibition/Bar/ Live music...WasIst Das presents Sophie Cooper Band + Others tbc

Ned = Sunday at Inkfolk, live down tempo music perfect for Sunday chilling and his last offering with Colin Potter and Slomo was simply sublime. His Wasist Das gigs are a breath of fresh air here in Hebden Bridge and so we welcome him back to Inkfolk for his next foray into the music world with the Sophie Cooper Band. Sophie lives in the valley and has played and released live music with a host of different artists and bands such as Tom Cool, Wing Horses, The A Band plus a few others over the years. Her music has a delightful pacifying folky feel, which we think will be very welcome for those who have stayed with us partying the night before!
Tickets are available on the door or on sale from wasistdas.bigcartel.com/

Come help us blow out the candle…
